Dear NFB Family,
I am working on a recording progect entitled, "First Songs:
The music that planted the seed". This is a collection of the songs I
learned when I first started playing the classical guitar my Aunt Margie
gave me in 1969. The first song my sister, Marilyn, and her new boyfriend
and future husband, Paul, sang together while sitting in our Florida Room
was the very first song I learned to play. This song - Today by John Denver
- became the song mom always requested when we were together and will be one
of the closing songs for my release concert on Sunday. Marilyn will be
singing the first song she and Paul performed together at their wedding
reception - Single girl.
My "First Songs" release concert will be held on Sunday,
June 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Unity North Tampa where I serve as
music director. Unity North Tampa is located at 19520 Holly Lane, Lutz, Fla.
This concert is my way of singing for my dinner, so to speak, as it will
help fund my trip to the National Association of guide Dog Users annual
meeting for which I serve as president and will represent that division to
the National Federation of the Blind annual convention from July 7 - 12. The
concert is on a love offering basis and all donations are a tax-deductible
contribution to a nonprofit organization.
If you cannot make the concert and would like to support my
work with the National Association of Guide Dog Users, you can make a
donation through Pay Pal by sending your contribution to
treasurer at nagdu.org. Please put "Marion's Concert" in the notes so it will
be credited to my support account. To receive a copy of "First Songs",
please send an email request to <marion.gwizdala at verizon.net> and I will
send the download link to you.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise
expectations because low expectations create barriers between blind people
and our dreams. You can live the life you want! Blindness is not what holds
you back.
