My mother decided that I should learn to type in the first grade when I was
learning to read and write braille. She had gotten my brother a typewriter
that year, when he was starting seventh grade. I was playing with it, and
she decided if I wanted to play with it, I had to learn to type on it. I
typed for a while, and then it went by the wayside. When I was ten, and
home sick, I started playing with it again. So, she taught me again. My
next use of a typewriter was in the Institute, when they gave us typing in
Junior highschool. So, I guess you could say I had a head start. Pam.
