The mistake many made then, and still do today, is pushing print if kids have even a little vision, not counting up the cost to them once they hit the heavy homework years.

In general, school districts use the lazy and legally non-valid and indefensible excuse that braille is more expensive, too expensive, too bulky, etc.

Parents have to insist, for the sake of their kids.

I was always jealous of the totals I went to summer camp with. Had I known braille, I wouldn’t have been in trouble reading late into the night. Flashlights and later talking book cassettes gave me away. Math would have been easier. Giving presenations in high school too. Less back aches. 

Too bad school  staff didn’t see it my way.
