Actually, I like your suggestion.  It would probably work nicely.  However, I just write smaller.  If I know I don’t have as big of an area to sign my name, I simply write the letters smaller.  I only have the old fashioned cardboard signature card, easy to carry in my wallet.  I’ve refinanced our house twice since moving in 3 years ago, signing over 125 pages each time, and my method worked fine.

What I would do is use a rubber band horizontally across the signature slot to narrow the slot.  It's easier to make them as small as you need than to enlargen the line width.

The rubber band stretched across the line will keep the line narrow, but allow you to go slightly below, like you would for a capital J, a y and other letters that loop below the line.

Hello everybody I’m just wanting to know whether or not you guys know of a place or places where I can obtain a legal sized signature guide because the one I have that for regular signatures that is made of metal, is way too big and when it comes to signing legal documents I really need a really small signature guide.
