If you have the persons name only in your contacts and then you get a direct email from the person with other identifying information say phone number and address, if you click on update by the right top it will ask if you want to create a new contact or add to an existing contact.. At least this is what it used to do. Now it might just update and put every Part of the “updated information“ into the contact directly. So let’s say if I had just your name in there, then your email address comes up with information it will say something like Siri found updated information above the cc spot. You double tap on that and it will automatically put stuff in there to “update“ your personal contact information in my contacts List. I don’t know how it works on an android.
