Hi, Jen,
No, it is not necessary to attend an NFB center in order to become proficient at housekeeping, but the centers are great, and if you can attend one, you will gain a lot of life-long knowledge.
Definitely check out the flylady.net site and get on board with some of their suggestions for people seriously wanting to organize and begin to take housekeeping seriously.
Also Google anything you want to know. You may adopt a lot of techniques you come across, or also think up some of your own, as you get into exploring the how-tos. You are not limited to any set of housekeeping techniques specifically for blind people. Don't be afraid to explore and try.
Judy

Subject: [BlindTlk] NFB Centers
Sort of a tag on my "House Cleaning thread.
I am considering attending an NFB center after the pandemic. For those who attended, what was it like? For all of you - is it necessary to attend an NFB center to become a successful, competent blind person? And are all NFB center graduates successful?
