The National Association of Guide Dog Users would like to invite you to
our next Guide Dog Matters seminar. This is a one-hour presentation on a
specific topic related to guide dog users. The seminar typically takes
place on the third Sunday of every month unless otherwise noted. For
those who are not able to attend, the presentation will be recorded and
shared on the list as well as the NAGDU Facebook page.
This month's topic is, "Reading NAGDU's proposed resolutions for this
year's national convention."
NAGDU would like to take this time to read the draft of the proposed
resolutions that have been submitted to the NFB's resolutions committee.
This will be the opportunity for people to find out the nature of the
resolutions and ask questions about them. Please keep in mind that the
final wording of the resolutions will most likely change based on what
the resolutions committee says. Also, this is no guarantee that the
committee will adopt the resolutions, nor that the convention will vote
to approve them.
It is our hope that members, guide dog users and non-guide dog users,
will ask questions about these resolutions so they can make the best
choice when it comes time to voting for them during convention this
year. NAGDU is planning on having a town hall meeting about these
resolutions in June and in July before the general sessions where people
can ask further questions about them.
Right now, there are three proposed resolutions:
1. Resolution concerning accessible information from guide dog schools.
2. Resolution concerning due process involving repossession and removing
guide dogs from handler's possession.
3. Resolution calling on the International Guide Dog Federation to adopt
standards concerning the rights of guide dog handlers.
Date: Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Time: 3 PM Eastern. (This calculates as 2 PM Central, 1 PM Mountain, 12
noon Pacific, and 11 AM Alaska.)
Where: Zoom.
