Yes, and you can also make sure to tilt your head back, just as you would at the dentist's office that really helps cut down on any splatters.

When I brush my teeth and/or shave at a sink, I hang a full length bath towel in the top of my shirt so that way the shaving and brushing have little chance to mess up my clothes.  I can live with a bath towel getting dirty.
