The new Ambutech canes have a cord lock so you don't need to have anything handy
to hook on the cord to keep it out; it's really nice!

Hi, Sherri,
Yep, this is the way Chris' is. The trick is, too, leaving enough slack elastic,
holding it in place, until you can change the tip.
I learned that lesson the hard way, and ended up making hook out of a coat
hanger to catch the runaway elastic and pull it back into place again.

Judy, I once had an Amtec cane, which I by the way did not like, because it was
so heavy. Anyway, mine had the hook tip. You had to bring the string out and
then hook the tip onto it and then the string would retract back into the cane.
Hope this helps.
Sherri

Subject: [BlindTlk] changing cane tips
Hi all,
Okay, I just ordered my new Ambutech cane and I know that I'm going to want to
change the tip on it so can anyone tell me how do I change a cane tip? My new
cane comes with the pencil tip and I already have the rolling ball tip so I'd
like to be able to change it and then put the pencil tip on my old cane as the
rolling ball tip that's on it now is all flat so it doesn't work very well any
more. I've never had to do this before; as the lady who taught me how to use a
cane always did it for me but she's retired; at least I have sighted assistance.
Really hope someone can help me as I'd really hate to mess this up. Thanks
