Sorry, I couldn't find the original post to reply to, but if you meet for
coffee, bring a trusted friend with you.  

I know of people who have done background checks on people they date.  Not a
bad idea in today's climate.  And anyone who gets upset with that is getting
upset for a reason.  A person with nothing to hide should understand.
