Hi, Peter,

I was at one of the NFB national conventions when Eric spoke.  My husband
got to know him, and we enjoyed him very much.  I remember his goal was to
climb the tallest mountain on each of our continents.

Good morning everyone,

 

                Welcome to Earth is a National Geographic series on the
origin and creation of our planet 

hosted by Will Smith.The series also explores how our planet supports life.
Many aspects of life on Earth 

are explored. What is of interest to us here is one of the participating
explorers is none other than Eric 

Weihenmeyer. Recall that Eric successfully summited Mt. Everest in 2001 and
has gone on to have other 

awesome adventures and is involved in scientific studies of life on Earth.
Eric shares insight into how he 

as a blind explorer and outdoorsman can enjoy nature via his other senses
and how he cultivated this 

skill. We found it quite fascinating. Having a blind person included in this
docuseries is a wonderful 

example of the work of the NFB.
