Hi Ericka,

This is an easy one for me, as I grew up in Colorado Springs, doing a lot of hiking.

There are different types of ticks, so am just going off my experience.

You will definitely know you have one, because you will feel a very mild sting along with an itch. The thing feels like a flat, round tiny pill, but that can depend on how imbedded it is.

One thing we used to do is coat the tick bite in nail polish, as it cuts off the air supply and makes them back out.

I've heard that applying a bit of kerosene or gasoline on them will make them back out, but haven't tried that one.

You don't want to pull them out, as it leaves the head inside.

I've never seen the answer to this question before open Wisconsin there's a lot of creepy crawlies, but one of the ones you don't want is a deer tick. Mosquito bites I can handle, but how do you check yourself after going out in the woods if you're blind or visually impaired? I don't have any neighbors or family in the area of my husband and I keep safe? Thanks.
