That’s a wonderful idea Madison!

As for me, I’ve been an activity assistant in a nursing home, a take care, worker and currently I work for national industries For The Blind as chief Penn prepare lol in my vision has changed over the years as I’ve said, so some things are harder for me to do than they used to be. I’m not in love with electronic medical health records for sure.

As to the volunteering, I feel like I’ve done it all, but I know I haven’t. Here. In the states we have a MERICORE. They do a lot of things. Sometimes it’s building homes or working with kids in public schools to get their skills to grade level. I don’t know if you’ve heard the peace core here in the states but it’s similar to that only in the United States rather than in a foreign country. My totally blind Husband did 2AMERICORE experiences both in schools. One of them was at the Blind school in our state and the other one was in Milwaukee Public school. He really loved it. Similarly I have helped build houses in Louisiana. Americo people taught us how to do siding or insulation or dig holes for fence posts all three of which I have done. I have also volunteered in a food pantry and did some social work related things for the Salvation Army in a community I lived in. I have taught Sunday school for years and years at various churches, and I have worked with seniors in day programs and been a personal care worker in people‘s homes as well. Someday I would like to do something with animals like help socialize cats in a foster system through the Humane Society. All my cats have come from the Humane Society so it’s deep in my heart.

Hope this helps you. I wanted to be a teacher, special education specifically. Now looking back, I probably should have become certified to teach blind and visually impaired. But I’m 53 and I’m not going back to school.
