Anyone who has had that experience should report to Delta, finding out proper channels, so that it can be mentioned in employ training. Staff shouldn't assume a disability. It is always safest to ask. However, it could also be that they have had blind passengers with 2ndary disabilities who really did need a chair. Having the chair available at deplaning would actually save time if a chair were really needed, rather than having the passender wait while the employee rounded up a chair, especially if a passenger had a short layover.

I remember traveling with kids many times, with all our stuff, it was much easier having assistance and riding a cart.

I think the best we can do is to positively educate and move on.

judy
sent from the braillesense polaris

----- Original Message -----
From: Mark Tardif via BlindTlk <blindtlk@nfbnet.org>
To: Blind Talk Mailing List <blindtlk@nfbnet.org>
Date: Monday, July 16, 2018 05:26 AM
Subject: Re: [BlindTlk] rude delta staff

I also flew Delta. Why the assumption still exists that we can't walk as
well as not being able to see still exists I don't know. But I ran into
that everywhere this time. Fortunately, in every case, the staff were
courteous and respected my choice to walk with them.

Mark Tardif
Nuclear arms will not hold you.
-----Original Message-----
From: Bryan Schulz via BlindTlk
Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2018 11:50 PM
To: 'Blind Talk Mailing List'
Cc: Bryan Schulz ; 'NFB of Missouri Mailing List'
Subject: [BlindTlk] rude delta staff

Hi,

Travelling from Orlando to atlanta, did anyone else endure rude staff while
switching planes in atlanta?

I walked off of the plane in atlanta and a woman with a wheelchair was
waiting for me.

She grabbed my arm and dragged me closer to the wheelchair and attempted to
push me down in the wheelchair.

I gave a laser stare and said you need to learn not to push people down in a
wheelchair!

Way to go nfb, I thought the blind had it better than this now days.

Bryan Schulz

---
This email has been checked for viruses by AVG.
http://www.avg.com
_______________________________________________
BlindTlk mailing list
BlindTlk@nfbnet.org
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/blindtlk_nfbnet.org
To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for
BlindTlk:
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/blindtlk_nfbnet.org/markspark%40roadrunner.com

---
This email has been checked for viruses by AVG.
https://www.avg.com

_______________________________________________
BlindTlk mailing list
BlindTlk@nfbnet.org
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/blindtlk_nfbnet.org
To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for BlindTlk:
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/blindtlk_nfbnet.org/sonshines59%40gmail.com
