Hello Fellow Veterans Officers and Board,
The 2013 NFB convention for veterans was fantastic.
We began by setting up our table and banners for the exhibit hall which
was a great venue. The 9 Foot Banner over our table was just superb and made
it very impressive,
so said Mrs. Jernigan. On Tuesday night the Second of July at 7 PM we held
our Veterans meeting where we had many presenters as well as our bi-annual
elections. Here are the results.
President, Dwight Sayer of Clermont Florida, First Vice President, Gene
Huggins of Sumter South Carolina, Second Vice President, Larry Ball of
Clearwater Florida, Secretary, Patty Sayer of Clermont Florida,
Treasurer, Allen Bornstein of Ormond Beach Florida, Board members are as
follows, Debi Black , Clinton Grimsley, Nancy Hester, Brad Loos, Cory Keith,
and our National Chaplain and Board
member Father John Sheehan. We closed our meeting with vendors who provide
prosthetics (equipment) to the VA making presentations.
During the exhibit hall hours we sold our NABV License Plates, our
Patriotic Pin for 2013 which was
a gold shield with red , white and blue drapes on either side and the
inscription (One Nation Under God) in the middle of the pin. We also held our
50/50 raffle which netted $1650.00. We held our
drawing on Saturday the 6th at noon. Mr. Harold Wilson of Baltimore was
the winner of $825.00. Congratulations Harold. On Thursday July 4th we
held our Celebration of Freedom with the United States Air Force providing
the Color Guard from Patrick Air Force Base. A big thank you goes out to
the Men from Patrick Air Force Base for the
job well done. Father John Sheehan our National Chaplain and Dr. Jessica
Euell provided our musical celebration. Their were Veterans from one side of
the stage to the other and wrapped around the end of the stage. All
veterans were presented with a Red, White and Blue Ribbon to attach to their
convention badges in the center of the ribbon the words Veteran were
inscribed.They all
introduced themselves and their branch of service they served in. We
presented Dr. Marc Maurer and Mrs. Patricia Maurer with their 2013 Patriotic
Pins and we closed our celebration with a reminder that Freedom Isn't Free and
while
remembering our men and women of the armed forces to please remember their
families as well because they wait, watch, wonder and pray that their
loved one will come home safe and sound.
Respectfully Submitted By,
Dwight D. Sayer
