[blparent] Off topic: enucleation

Sorry for the off topic post, but I'm wondering if any of you have had to deal with enucleation, the removal of the eyeball.  If so, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.  I'm trying to decide right now between enucleation and a less invasive, although likely less effective, procedure for painful pressure in the eyes.  The less painful procedure is a neural block, in which purified alcohol is injected behind the eyes.  I've had it done twice, and now enucleation has been put on the table.

If you've been through the operation, what was it like?  How was the recovery?  How has the loss of your eyeballs affected your life?  Have you had any regrets?  Please write to me at jopinto at msn.com so we don't clutter up the list with off topic messages.
