Hi, Rebecca,
I don't know about the Elmers Glue method, but another option is to soak the
affected hand or foot in a lukewarm Epsom salt solution. The skin tends to
stretch around the splinter, making it stick out more prominently so that
it's easy to remove. Also I like to use a disinfectant salve such as
Unguentine with a Bandaid for a few hours. It softens the skin as well as
fighting infection, and the splinter usually drops out by itself.
