By "kind of big" what do you mean?
By "ating on her own" what do you mean?
Is she unable or unwilling to feed herself, or do you want her to eat while you go off and do other things?
As for potty training, is she ready or do you only wish she were ready. The two are very different

Hi:
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on potty training. My daughter is kind of big now and I don't think the communication is going well when I am trying to teach her to potty train. If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it. And Any tips for getting her to eat on her own.

It's okay if she just plays with the spoon. Give her a little cereal and
let her get the feel of what it is. It's about time to start with the
cereal. Just put a little in her mouth and she'll get the jest of it. V

Hey there. It's hard to believe but Kloei is six months already! We had a
half birthday for her on Wednesday. We're still exclusively breastfeeding
because she's not at all liking when I touch her face. She's hit the spoon
out of my hand a few times and just wants to play with her cereal and fruit.
She's a growing happy girl.

This is just my opinion, since I have never used one, but it seems that one
in front of the other would be much easier to handle. Side by side would be
too wide and thus not easy to control. V

Hi all, you must have known this question would come. LOL has anyone any
experience
with double strollers? I am looking for one that will pull as easy as my peg
prego.
Any thaughts? It seams as if they do not make any with ravercable handels or
swiveling
weals. Or am I missing one? I was just looking at a colcraft online, and
liked that
the seets can be moved around to have the kids face different ways. But I
wonder
how this would be for pulling. Also did you find the side by sides were
harder to
use then the frun to backs? Again any help would be grate.
Thanks

The challenges weren't as great or frustrating as I imagined they would be.
The teachers were super and willing to work with me. They sent a lot of the
class assignments to me via the computer and I have spent countless hours
helping in the classrooms. First thing is to make friends with the teacher.

Wow, summer has flown by so fast!
Just curious: What challenges have you faced since Gab started school? How
have you helped her with homework?
I know I have years down the road, but before becoming a parent it's
something I never thought about.

I'm not going to worry about solids so much. She's still nursing and her doc
didn't seem to concerned about her weight gain. I've heard from many other
parents and read articles that say solids or baby food in the first year is
mostly for exploration not so much for the nutrients. She'll get the hang of
it soon enough.

Hi,
Sorry, but I don't understand the below? Who should have started rice at

Hi there,
I had this dilemma somewhat when my son was born our daughter was three.
However, she was a small three and still liked the stroller. My husband was
still able to carrier her on his back in our back pack. Is this something
you might do? I don't know the ages of your children. Again we thought of
the double stroller idea but did not want to put the money in such a device.
We just worked it out with the back-pack and the stroller with the smaller
child in it.
I also used the ergo as a transport method with one child on my back and the
other holding my hand.
Just a thought.

We had a side by side, and I just pulled it behind me. It worked ok,
not great, but was dooable.

My sister had a double stroller for a while, but she found it hard to pull
and very heavy so she didn't use it much. Of course, this was a few years
ago so they may have a newer model which is lighter. Personally I might
wait a bit to make such a purchase. When the baby is very young you will be
able to wear him or her in a sling, snugglee, etc. and still pull your son
in a stroller. Depending on what type of sling or carrier you have you may
be able to wear your youngest for quite a while-I can still carry my
two-year-old on my back-and your older child can ride in the stroller and
then, of course, begin to walk more and more along with you. By the time
your youngest is too big to be carried comfortably I bet your oldest will be
wanting to walk most of the time on his own. Of course, if you want another
baby fairly soon, then a double stroller might be more of a must. But, you
may be able to get along without one fairly easily.
Just some thoughts. It never hurts to look at your options. I would
definitely want to get my hands on, fold, unfold, and pull a double
stroller, or any stroller for that matter, before purchasing. Just my
preference!

What about a sit and stand. The baby would go up front and in the back is a
"jump" seat for the older child, they can either sit on the seat or they can
stand on the stand plate that it has. This also leaves room for the older
child to get in and out the stroller when they want.

I don't know if that works, but I've used tape when the splinter isn't
in very deep. Just put the tape on the area and pull it off.

Hi everybody.
Do any of you have any good ways to remove splinters? No, nobody has
one... yet, I'm just taking a premptive strike. I've read that Elmer's
glue will work that if you apply it to skin with a splinter and wait for
it to dry and then peel the glue off, the splinter will come with it.
Anybody know if this works?

I have old time radio shows for kids. I think these would be better for the

Believe me, I agree and we listen to those all the time. I'm just
wondering what else might be out tthere both in terms of material and
devices for listening to said material. Old Time Radio is great.

Levelstar has something called the icon which is pretty cool. It's around
$1500 I think. For something cheaper and that is more portable, I think
some of the new i-pods have talking menus and you could get a docking
station with speakers from best buy or something like that.

Try carrying the baby strapped ot you in a front carier and the other in a
stroller until you find one you like. Might be a little cumbersome, but
it's doable. My children are four years apart, so that's not something i
needed to worry about. And, I can't have any more. It's not safe for me
naymore.

Some babies do better than others. I started Joshua at four months, and he
tok to cereal right away. Now, he likes to put the spoon into his mouth
himself. He takes fruits and vegies and some meats now, but still nurses,
except when he is with a sitter. Then, he gets a botle, and the siter time
is only an hour or two. Sometiems. he gets one when his father comes home
for the wek-end, just so that he has the option of feding him if he wants
to.

Hi.
We go Friday to see who the teacher is this year. I?m hoping this year goes better then last.
This will also be the last year of public school if it turns out to be more of the same.
On the up side, Ash is ready to return though a bit nervous. She walked in to the living room the other day and informed Clay and I that ?I?m just not prepared for first grade.? We informed her that since she used prepared correctly there shouldn?t be any issues academically.
Also this is the first year we have to do portfolios any tips?
OK, I?ll Write more later.
Kate

What exactly do you disapprove of in TV for kids? I?m just curious, if you would like I can give a few examples of good kid?s programming.

well, it seems that most of the shows today, especially the cartoons are so
loud and way too stimulating for children. I know that whenever our
11-year-old watches those things, they get him all wound up and he's
difficult to deal with so we don't allow him to watch cartoons.

Hi,
Sorry, but I don't understand the below? Who should have started rice at

A simple tape recorder purchased at Walmart works for talking books or books
on tape or a cheap cd player, they still have them. Smile!

Levelstar has something called the icon which is pretty cool. It's around
$1500 I think. For something cheaper and that is more portable, I think
some of the new i-pods have talking menus and you could get a docking
station with speakers from best buy or something like that.

OK, I?ll Write more later.

the more research that is being done regarding exposure to television for
kids, the more it is being determined that it just isn't good for them,
unless it's controlled and moderated strictly. I've heard from several
sources, including the American Pediatric Association (can't remember if
that's it's correct name) that children under 2 years of age, just shouldn't
watch television. my pediatrician says it's because kids don't learn by
watching images on screens, they learn by doing. in fact, we are trying to
dramatically reduce our television input as a family for this reason.
I've actually seen television become a real problem for some kids; they
become addicted to it, learn bad behaviors from it, act out when they can't
watch it, refuse to engage in other activities in favor of watching it, etc.
I know some of this is also how closely monitored the child is by his
parents. issues like that just don't arise over night.
having said all that, I agree with you that there are "good" and "bad" kids
programs. I'm a fan of PBS Kids shows that actually teach something, and are
not violent or age-inappropriate. it is really amazing how many cartoons are
violent, or how many teach messages that we simply wouldn't otherwise expose
our kids to. e.g., the whole princess waits (depressed and lonely) for
prince charming to ride in and rescue her.
I read a really good article a few weeks ago that suggested you could
maximize the experience of watching television by engaging the child as you
watch the program. the article suggested that you pre-record programs (like
sesame street), and get the child to actively participate as you watch.
e.g., if the number of the day on sesame street is "3," you could pause the
show and ask your child to go find you three of something (crayons, blocks,
etc.). similarly, if the letter is "r," you could ask your child to go find
you something in the house that starts with "r."

Hi.
What are you guys doing for various audio materials for your kids? Aside
from the library and NLS which I know about, what else is out there?

I have old time radio shows for kids. I think these would be better for
the
kid than all the crap that's on tv these days.
