[blparent] audible kids

But some day you might want to listen for your own enjoyment and you might
not want little ears to hear. Headphones are nice for that. Or you might
want to take it on a trip and not want everyone in the plane or train or bus
to hear what you are listening to. V

Thank you guys.
I think I would be most interested in the Ipod or a non-blindness
product mostly due to cost.
And, I need a device that doesn't use headphones because listening is a
community experience not a solo one, at least to me.
Based on what you all are saying, I think I want an Ipod?
So we don't clog the list, can those that know this stuff email me?

As far as a accessible MP3 player goes, there are a couple directions
you can go in. First let me say, you ask for a portable device, and one
you can listen to without headphones. Those two requirements conflict
with each other some -- the better the sound the larger the unit, so you
will have to find what works for you for s8ize and listenability.

There are a couple ways to go. Some people use simple small MP3
players, such as the iPod shuffle, ones without a lot of controls or
options, so accessibility isn't much of a problem.

Another approach is to use one of the players for blind persons that
handle DAISY books, as well as other file types. These include the
Victor Stream from Humanware, the Book Sense from GW Micro, and the
Pocket from Plextalk. Of the three I personally like the Stream the
best, but for size and listenability through its small built-in speaker,
the Booksense is the best.

Another option is to use a new iPod Nano 4th ge3neration. Along with
iTunes it makes the player accessible.

Hope this helps.
