Hi Michael.
Our daughters are nearly the same age. My daughter, Elise Jaden, turned 14
months this past Sunday. We got her a couple of Baby Einstein DVDs, some
books, some play food, and a set of Color Sorting Boxes. The boxes are by
Lakeshore Learning
www.lakeshorelearning.com
They are a set of 4 square boxes - one yellow, one blue, one red, and one
green. Each box has a matching lid, and contains 4 things that are the same
color. E.g., the yellow box has a duck, a banana, a crayon, and a ball; the
green box has a turtle, a pear, a crayon, and a ball; etc.
Everything is made of a kind of vinyl material, so I was able to stick
braille labels on things that feel similar. E.g., I put "blue" on the box
and on its matching lid, and I labeled each of the four crayons and balls
with their individual colors.
I thought they would really help with sorting, color recognition, etc.
Hope this helps.
Dena
