[blparent] Gift Ideas

They are recommended for ages 3-5 years. I'm becoming resigned to the fact
that I have to bring out certain toys for my 3 year old only when I can
monitor him and take the toys away when he starts to use them as missels or
confetti.

Eileen, you may now be my personal hero. I've been looking for blocks
that do as you describe. Thank you!

My 3 and 7 year old boys are loving the trio blocks. These click
together
and stay in one piece when carried around. The mega blocks tend to fall
apart and don't make very good guns and swords for that reason. The trio
set
we bought is supposed to make various bugs but my boys have been
creating
guns, proquipines, and rockets over the past 3 days.

I almost forgot about another gift Sarah received last year, which we
still
use nearly every day. She got a book and CD set from the "Wee Sing"
line.
One CD is Mother Goose nursery rhymes, and the other is songs and
clapping
games and lullabies for babies. I think listening to the CD's and
imitating

the words has done a lot to speed up Sarah's talking ability, and now
she
demands to hear "Doose" almost every day. The tunes are familiar to
her,
and I know she can recognize many of the rhymes right away because she
says
some of the words and claps along with the finger games. There are a
lot
more CD's as well, which I will probably look into getting eventually as

Sarah gets older. You can find the books and CD's at Amazon, but for
detailed descriptions and listening samples, go to www.weesing.com.
(Note
that there are two e's in "Wee.) We haven't used the print books at
all,
but the CD's are great!
