[blparent] question

Hi Jo Elizabeth. We're going to get one of those gates for the kitchen and I
could close doors to all three bedrooms, the laundry room, and the bathroom
if I so choose. That way, he'll be in a contained area and I'll be able to
keep better track of him. Of course, he won't start walking for a while yet
so I have lots of time. Thanks for the suggestions. If I think of more
questions, I'll certainly ask.
Leslie

Hi, Leslie. Some parents wear their babies in a sling or a carrier that
attaches to the front or back of their body. Sarah and I never tookk to
that. When she was tiny, I could put her on a blanket on the floor, or in a

bouncy chair or a swing. There are chairs for babies that rock, and others
that have springs so they use the natural motion of the baby to keep the
seat moving. Some have toys on them for the baby to swat at, or music or
soothing sounds. There are a wide variety of swings, such as portable ones
and wind-up ones, battery operated ones, all the way to premium models with
lights and sounds and mobiles. I wouldn't recommend spending a ton of money

on a swing because your baby will only be in it for a matter of months. You

can also use a playyard (formerly called a playpen) for your baby. Once he
is crawling and walking, all bets are off, and then it's important to really

childproof the rooms you want him to be in, and use gates or closed doors to

keep him out of the places he shouldn't be. I hope that's a reasonable
overview, but if you have more specific questions, please ask.
