[blparent] Bedtime Stories...

I think both are important skills. 
I also don't think bedtime stories are essential. We don't do them. We
read and listen to stories, just not at bedtime. At bedtime, we sing,
talk and just be silly. 
Also, nothing wrong with Reading War And Peace or anything else to your
kids if that's what everybody wants to do.
At bedtime, my daughter tells me about stuff she likes and that is on
her mind, and I do likewise. It's fun, and I learn a whole lot from
listening to her. I trust if she isn't learning she's having fun and
hopefully we are getting to know each other as people not just as mom
and kid.

Actually, it doesn't hurt to listen to recordings.  I thingit boosts
their imaginations.  My daughter got to listen to a bunch of DR.  Seusse
stories, and she loved them.
