Yep V,
I make sure he reads something at least twice a week, though lately that
hasn't been a problem. Since kindergarten he is trying to read all sorts of
things. Just a sentence or two at a time but that is how any new skill is
gained, step by step.  His kindergarten teacher used a book called fast
start to reading which had a bunch of exercises very similar to the games
you've been describing. The exercises also included counting the syllables
in words, finding all the words that started with a certain letter and so
on. The stories were just simple nursery rhymes which the parent read twice
and then the child read it on his own. Well they called it reading but it
was a mixture of reading and memorizing especially in the beginning. smile
