[blparent] [Bulk] bathing an infant

And between the toes. I used to always forget to clean between the toes and
before you knew it, she looked like a hairy mess. Letting them soak is a
great way to get all the left-overs off. V

Not sure how publicly acceptable it is but I hold the used wipes about 3
inches away from my nose and sniff. If they are coming up stinky I know my
job is not done. I've been trying the touching method too but every thing is
so wet and the wipes I use do leave bits of lint behind so I find the
combinationworks best. And I don't try to skimp on wipes.
When it comes to the penis I lay the wipe across my hand and wrap the wipe
around it in the same way I would clean a spoon or fork.
Usually the poop stays at the back of the scrotum so if I can get the worst
of it cleared away then there is less chance of accidentally pushing
something nasty up into the penis opening.
I've never pulled the foreskin back in either my 6 year old or my two year
old because it is attached in infants and young boys. Pulling the foreskin
back is akin to trying to clean inside the vagina. Not recommended. My
midwife tells me that boys naturally learned to keep themselves clean as
they reach sexual maturity in the same way that girls have to learn to keep
themselves clean.

I'm a big fan of letting the kids soak in the tub if I want to make sure all
the ooies and gooies come off. Though my youngest is so chubby that I find
something akin to belly button lint building up in his arm pits if I don't
pay attention. LOL

Sighted people have to touch the baby to properly clean him too. It's much
better to make sure he's clean than to leave stuff on him and cause rash and

other skin problems. I had the same thoughts when my first child was born,
but since I know I'm not doing anything inappropriate, and in fact doing
what is best for the baby, I do what I have to do. When I change other
people's children in the church nursery (all of the changing stations are
out in the open as they are required to be by our church's safety policy) I
don't touch a lot, just around the buttocks and inner thighs without
touching the private areas, other than with the wipes. I think that's when
you have to be more careful, and you could do the same when out in public
with your child if you are nervous about people watching. I just love being

the source of entertainment for everyone when I'm out with my children. I
should get paid for that. haha
