have you considered buying a pitcher to use just for the formula? open the 
can and pour into the wider mouthed pitcher. and then you could pour easily 
from the spout of the pitcher. i've heard of mom's making up the powdered 
formula and putting a days worth in the fridge, so you should be able to do 
this with the liquid also.
this could just be one of those old wive's tales or may not apply to 
formula, but with things like canned juice or canned dog food, i was always 
told to remove all contents from the can before storing. i was told it 
wasn't safe to store in the can.
