[blparent] Everyone needs a break

I can relate to this totally. Although my daughter has my attention
for like 16 hours out of the day, I be sure to call an adult and talk
to them once in a while. you can only take it so long when they talk
about why this friend isn't friends with that friend and why she is in
the club but the other girl isn't and how that little girl told the
other little girl about what another little girl did but why they will
or won't still be another little girl's friend.

I mean, I sometimes do a little happy dance when she goes to school
and I leave for work, yet my fingers always wants to dial her class
room directly and ask for her to here her voice to know she's ok.

and still I am always at the bus stop waiting for her to get home, and
to here her run to me and shout "Daddy" and hearing her running foot
steps.

I agree with the part about sharing your interests. I will lie down with
Gabs for her nap, and turn
on whatever audio book I'm listening to at the time, and we snuggle
together
for a while. Usually
she falls asleep, sometimes she doesn't. She likes listening to the
sound of
the narrator's voice, I
guess. Not sure, but it works.

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive
without
making poorer those who
give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts
forever.
None is so rich or
mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he
cannot be made rich by it.
Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is
something that is of no value
to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give
you a
smile. Give them one of
yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Thing is, my "me" time is sitting and reading a book. I tend to go to
bed early and sometimes time "out" tires me more then being with my
family.
Honestly, when I see posts like "You need time out" I view it as "one
more thing I *have* to do" which I don't think is the intent.
Maybe a better bit of advice is to make sure you don't forget the things
you like to do, i.e. the bit of yourself that can get lost if you don't
take care to nurture it.
It's also okay to share the things you love with your kids for no other
purpose then because you love your kids, and you love a certain interest
or topic.

V., I agree with how important "me time" is. I don't have a weekly
schedule, but I get out as often as possible. The 1 recent thing I've
discovered, and look forward to, is a weekend for the blind, hosted by
our local Lion's club. A few hours a month, and 1 weekend once a year
doesn't seem like enough to me, so a few girl friends and I are going to
plan an anual weekend away, in the Fall, up north, in NH..
