[blparent] question about breast feeding book

I never read that book, but I did nurse both my boys.

www/Kellymom.com is a very informative web site

I also recommend joining a message group specifically for breast feeding.
Just like parenting if someone isn't in the midst of the same predicament
they quickly forget all the little details.

When I tried tickling baby's lip as recommended for sighted mothers, I ended
up with baby's head straining forward into a bad position.
A mom on this list suggested a circular motion around baby's mouth and that
did seem to work better for me.

La Leche league has helped many mothers. Their only draw back is the refusal
to accept that some moms and babies really do have problems breast feeding.
I was shocked to encounter a la leche league leader who eventually tracked
down her 3rd child's failure to nurse and gain weight. Her son had one of
the rarer forms of tongue tie, which went undiagnosed. She ended up pumping
and bottle feeding.

Hi Amy. I too, have a little one on the way and am due in March. Like you,
I am also taking the Hadley course but haven't gotten to the breastfeeding
part yet. Good luck.
Leslie

Hello list,
This is Amy Provencal, dropping in. I have been on this list since January.
My husband and I are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our little one in
March. I've been taking one of the Hadley courses, and in the course, they
recommended the book, Womanly Art of Breast Feeding. I've found many of your
various posts about breast feeding in the past to be helpful and
informative, I've saved some of those e-mails, I was just wondering if any
of you, have either heard of, or used and found helpful this book. In the
course, it does say that I can get it on cassette, so my husband and I are
thinking of trying to get a copy of it. Another book that came highly
recommended to us, was Breast Feeding for Dummies, which we were able to
get, but only in print.
We really want to do our homework in preparation for breast feeding, so we
thought we'd get a jump on some reading.
Thanks,
Amy P.
