[blparent] accessible cell phones? (verification from a doctor)

Hi, Rebecca.  I agree that it would be a waste of time to make a special 
trip to the doctor just to get a form for the possible purchase of a cell 
phone.  On a side note, though, what I did on one occasion when I actually 
needed to see a doctor, I had him write a short letter stating that I am 
blind, with no prospect of my disability changing.  I made several copies of 
the letter, complete with the doctor's signature, to use when I needed to 
have my blindness verified for one reason or another.  For example, the 
letter came in handy when I bought my condo and qualified for a lower 
interest rate on my mortgage loan because of my disability.  Drafting a 
letter for your doctor to sign could be something you might want to consider 
the next time you have to visit him or her anyway.
