Hi Nikki, and welcome to the list. I have a little girl named Sarah who is
nineteen months old.
The best thing I can say about the lack of confidence in society about blind
parents is to not take it personally. Easier said than done, but I've found
that when I let the doubts of others creep in, I start to doubt myself. In
church this morning, the wife of a visiting pastor, who is probably in her
sixties or so, said to me, "Well, of course you do have help in your home
every day, right?" Playing a little dumb, I asked, "Help with what?" She
said, "Well, with the baby." She was quite amazed when I said no, that the
baby's dad was home from work at night, but during the day, it was just the
two of us. The conversation bothered me for a while, but I'm learning to
shake things off.
Take care,
Jo Elizabeth
