[blparent] challenges with dressing an infant

Hi Scott. Let me reinterate what Joy said that with time and practice, you
will get better. I remember my first diaper change without any help took
place when Andy was out somewhere and I felt like it would take me forever.
Michael was squirming all over the place which didn't make thngs any easier.
I'm one who also gets easily frustrated so during a time like that, I had to
remember to do some deep breathing and focus on one thing at a time like
making sure the baby is centered, then pulling up the front, then, fastening
the Velcro tapes. I did get through it, however. I find that when putting
a new outfit on him, I spread it out flat with the arms pointed at 6:00 and
12:00. The head is at 9:00 and the feet are at 3:00. I'll talk to Michael
and say things like, Where's Michael's hand? There it is. Let's get one
foot in." Talking to him seems to help. Hth
Leslie

Subject: [blparent] challenges with dressing an infant

Hi.

Are there any good tips you guy can provide on dressing squirmy babies? It
seems that putting the legs through the pants is the issue that I find so
annoying and frustrating at the moment. Cindy thinks it's ridiculous that I

get so frustrated with something like this and maybe it is. After all, it's

a pretty small thing, but nevertheless, it's not fair for the baby that I be

that way, even if for a short time.

I've tried to refocus and that seems to help but I'd like to head this off
even before it becomes an issue, if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the help if possible.

Scott
