Rhonda, I think you are doing a great job, keep it up. Remember that
everyone has their own opinion on how a child should be raised. Don't take
the advice here as if you are doing anything wrong, it's just we all care
and we all think our way is the way. I bet Corbin is adorable and he sounds
like a really smart kid. If he's so far advanced at his age, you must be
doing a good job. Like my mother used to tell me, take one's advice with a
grain of salt. What is wonderful about advice, you can take it or leave it.
What you have to do is be the best mother you can to your child. V

For 1 ...
I don't push him to do anything
2 ... we buy him a sortment of things ... he has toys of all kind. 3 ... he
plays with others his age as well ...
We don't force anything upon him, and I don't have to prove myself to anyone
sited, nor blind.
I do what I do, simply because I can, and as long as you make it fun, to
where the child is enjoying it .... I don't see the problem.
He makes his decidion to what he wants to do/play with/what toy he wants ...
not me.
I believe in tying education activities to every day activities, so he can
understand that learning isn't all boring ... you can play, and have fun
doing it, simply because I can.
I also believe the most important part of a childs rain development is from
birth til 3 ... there little brains are like sponges ... so, why not teach
him?
...
As his mother/Parent, it's my job to teach him ... even though he may go to
school, te parents are still his number 1 teacher.
I believe many parents step back, and allow the school systems to do a job
that should have been started, rather it is basic counting, letter learning
etc, it's the parent's job to introduce them to it.
So, no offence takin, we all parent different ways ... we have our own
stragities that we use, stick to, so no one is wright, or wrong when
raising there child as long as they're in a loving, caring enviorenment.
...
So ... no!!!!! I don't believe I'm pushing him ... he loves his flashcard
games, books, movies, riding toys, building toys ... sinserory toys ... etc.
Many would say we're pushing him, but I don't think so ...
For the school setting ...
I believe he's too young, and isn't ready to spend a full day away ... the
programs he's in helps him with his social developmental skills ... so we
will waite til he's 3.

Hi,

Not to be rude but don't you think you might be pushing your son a little
too hard here? He's 2 and you're talking about putting him in home
schooling and worrying about educational toys, which it sounds like he'd
find borring. Your son might be very smart, and I get that you're proud of
him as we all are proud of our kids, but how much pressure is too much?
Does Corbin ever play just for the sake of playing, or having fun? You
know, your mother in law is wrong about blind people not being able to
parent children. but I don't think you need to push your son in to things
he may not be ready for just to proove to any sighted person that you're
good parents. Just let your kid be a kid, and don't worry so much, because
while you're worrying about things that don't matter, you're missing out on
things that do.

Tammy

Yes, I found the complete set on craigs list, and had the flash cards red to
me, so I can Braille them.
Corban looooooves it ... with consistency, it works, but many parents give
up bec thirty many of words, colors, shapes aen't fun for an adult, but we
make it fun.

Hi! I think that pre school has been really good for Mackenzie, and she
just turned 2. She's been in it for a couple months now. It's actually a
toddler program, but from there, she will advance to their pre school when
she's 3. She has learned so many words, and she is learning to play and
share with kids. I can't believe the progress she's made, she was great
before school, and now, it's even more amazing to see how fast she's
growing!

Hi parents!

How are all doing?

We had our year old tested for head start, and he tested at a 300! At 2 he
can do what an average 3 ½ year in a half old can do.

They gave us the option of allowing him o start headstart if we wanted in
dec, but he was too smart for headstart.

What would you do?

We will redgister him in the homeschool program, but I don't know about
sending to a school until he's 3.

They also said if he were old enough, he can start kindergarden/

We're proud of him, and many doubt us because both parents are blind .
people scare me with there amount of stupidity!

Is there any mamas in Janesville Wisconsin that are interristed in meeting
email me
