Anything I have ever read on the subject of night terrors related that they
could start as early as 11 months especially if the child was traumatized in
the womb. Myles was quite traumatized in the womb and started experiencing
this at about 1 year. He had them almost every night for a while then
slowed. Now he only has one every once in a while and like you he could not
be comforted. I think having a nightlight since birth did help some but who
knows. When he has them I go into his room and just stand by his crib
touching his back when he will let me. Most times after I go in the room he
calms down after about a minute or so. When he wakes from a bad dream it's
like he doesn't even know where he is and is so disoriented that he doesn't
realize I'm even there. When he does clue in he needs a huge long hug until
he calms enough to lie down with his blanky. it's frightening for a parent
to wake up with your child screaming like that. I don't hold much to what
alot of experts say either.
