I always changed on the floor, but on what was called a changing pad. It was
about as big as a bed pillow and curved in the center where the baby lays.
It, of course, was made of vinyl for easy clean-up. V

Hi, Sounds like he is right on target for his age. First let me ask does he
pull himself to standing or require your help. I ask because one of the
babies I watch was pulling up long before she could sit and we had to do
some extensive work on our part no therapy, but lots of persistence because
it began to be dangerous how much she would fall and not land on her bottom,
but rather her back. If this is the case I have some ideas for you.
As for the changing: This is just one of the first things in a Childs life
where you are the mommy and him the baby. He must be changed and he must
learn that he must lay down, and if you have to fight him to do it than go
for it. He won't be harmed from fussing and crying throwing mini fits, but
he will if he falls or something. Just get the job done quickly and try to
be happy and pleasant. Sing, talk and be as quick as you can. If you are
changing him on the floor I'd recommend changing that situation to a place
only for changing. It is confusing for them to think they can crawl on the
floor with you, but changing they must be still. A designated place for
changing will help.
Have fun you are at such a fun age!

Hi all. I just wanted to give a quick update on Michael. He's now standing
with support and he can stand when holding onto something. He likes to
babble a lot. We're still working on him sitting without support but he's
getting better. Today was the first time I saw him sit by himself and reach
for a toy without toppling over. I got this play yard for him, it's these
gates that are put together in a circle so he has an area to play and roll
around and I don't have to be behind him every second. He also has a little
piano which he loves to play. One concern I have is that Michael is at that
age where he's very wiggly when getting changed. He also likes to roll over
on his tummy and I have to keep putting him back on his back. If I hold him
in place, he starts to fuss or cry. Has anyone dealt with this issue before?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. As for the feeding, it's going great.
Besides using an infant feeder, I finally figured out a way to feed Michael
with the spoon that works well for both of us. The only tough part now is
making a mess on his clothes. I use bibs but it's still tough to keep the
mess down sometimes. Well, that's about it. Take care.
Leslie
