[blparent] My feedback on this story

As someone who makes his living in the media. The media should never "take
sides" in any story. Our job is in my opinion much like that of a lawyers.
We are to present the facts & only the facts & let the viewer/listener make
his or her own judgment on the story. We should contact both sides of any
issue & allow both parties, sides to tell us their take on a story. Then
present that, both sides when broadcasting the story. While I realize that
this is not always the case specially if You watch Fox or CNN. Or other
national media outlets. I still believe for the most part for local media
outlets it is. & yes if we are talking about an opinion or talk show. Yes
they do take sides. But if it is the news cast. That is no place for side
taking or shouldn't be. However any family request to involve the media
should be respected. However I do think that perhaps someone should consult
with the family once again & ask if they would be interested in
reconsidering their decision not to have the media involved. As I do think
this is a story that most media outlets would certainly be interested in
getting involved in. I can say our local talk station certainly would be
interested in letting them tell their story. Although I'd say at this point
sense the case is now in the courts. Most lawyers would strongly suggest to
their clients that they not speak with the media. However as long as their
is no gag order in place they are free to do as they choose.
This is just one man's opinion, & yes, sometimes I get paid for it.
