I agree, showing them the potty evry 30 minutes is not potty training, but
showing them the spot where the pee or poop should go. But at 18 months, I
don't think they are ready. They are still a baby, learning how things
work. A baby at 18 months is just learning that you get up, you eat, you
play, you nap, you play, you eat, you play. V

Agree totally with Tammy and Dena. My daughter took about a year from
initial interest in "that neat thing in the bathroom to actually using
the potty for its intended purpose. Once she was ready to actually use
the potty there was no holding her back. Refusing to wear diapers
doesn't transolate into using the potty, it just means the kid doesn't
want to wear diapers.
I'd argue that reminding the kid they have to go every 30 minutes isn't
potty training, it's simply redirecting the output to a place you want
it to go. We could debate all day which is more work diapers or that
method.
As with all things though, you need to figure out your priorities and
put your energy where they are.

Hi,

I agree with the below. My son took forever to potty train, and I
didn't
push him although I did make the potty available just in case he wanted
to
use it for its intended purpose. He used it for lots of other things at

first, but then he got it and his interest came in spurts. But my best
advice is don't push. It's very easy to wish your child in to being
interested for whatever reason and the process will take longer if they
truely aren't ready.
