I know what you mean about mom being sighted and falling apart.  She likes
to give tons of advice but seems to be scared she's going to hurt Michael
because he was so early.  I showed herhow to burp him by leaning him forward
and cupping his chin into her right hand. That's how they told me to do it
in the hospital till he gains better head control.  Well, when it came time
for mom to burp him, she didn't have a clue what to do.  Also, whenever he's
making noises, even over the phone, she's like, what's he doing?  Is he
okay?  Gosh!  The things we have to teach our sighted moms all over again!

You go girl.  I was with a friend of mine today, her baby Gabriel is 8 weeks
old and this is the first day mom took baby out by herself.  Shey picked me
up and we went to another friends for lunch.  Well, when mom put the baby
back into the car she could not get the carseat to snap in and she almost
fell apart.  I told her to take a deep breath and try again and then it
snapped in.  Mom is sighted! V

Hi all.  I just wanted to give an update on how things are going with
Michael and me.  First, as of yesterday, he's been home a month.  Second,
we're finally getting into a routine in terms of feedings, sleeping, etc.
His fussy period is sometime in the evening between 5 and 9.  I do give him
the chance to nurse and he's getting better at it.  However, he doesn't take
enough milk from me to nurse exclusively so I still have to pump. That's all
been getting easier with time and practice.  I'm feeling more comfortable
with every day tasks like changing, feeding, etc.  My family's actually
surprised I can do as much as I can on my own and that's a good thing.  I
also recognize the importance of asking for help when needed.  The last
thing I did today was put him in the car seat without any help whatsoever.
I felt so good I was able to do that!  Now, we're off to the pediatrician.
