[blparent] question of feeding a newborn

I pumped for 22 weeks. it is a lot of work, but I wanted Elise to have as
much breastmilk as I could get into her. when it's your first baby, you
really don't know much about your body, and I think pumping helped me with
that. e.g., I had no idea what a let-down reflex felt like until I could
feel it, and then hear the milk hitting the bottom of the collection bottle.
I would prefer not to have to pump exclusively ever again, but would do it
again if I had to for the benefits it gave my baby. if you do end up
pumping, I would find something to further boost your supply if you need it
(like a tea or supplement). I would also get something to deal with sore
nipples, as that pump cann really do a number on you :). Finally, I would
get extra breast pump parts, so you have a few to rotate out. I would use
one set, take it apart, wash it out with warm water, and stick it in the
dishwasher. Once I had the washer full of other bottle and pump parts, I'd
start it up. That did save me a tiny bit of time.
