HI V.
Looks like you've given this a lot of good thought.
The high school girl may indeed be a very good possibility.
Good luck and i hope things work as you'd like

It is right for me, I have pondered it and prayed about it for some time
and
I am ready. You just gave me an idea. When I was in highschool, I hung
out
at a friend's house to watch her little girl. The girl was 10 and
almost
old enough to take care of herself, but mom wanted someone there who
could
react in a crisis. We have a very dependable neighbor who has a very
reliable teenager that Gab absolutely adores. Maybe if I do find a job,
I
can ask Marissa to watch her until Chuck or I get home. Smile! We'll see
what my life becomes. I'll let you know. V

V,
You may want to ask parents you know in the real world what they do. The
reason is that this is really community specific.
My daughter is in a daycare center. She likes it.
It takes kids from babies up through elementary school.
You can also look into SACC School After Care something. Basically, it's
supervised activies in the school system.
Know that as Gab becomes a teen, these structured programs are less
available for reasons I don't understand. Maybe a church has something
for teens? Or, you could see if there is someplace she can volunteer so
that she has a passion that will keep her from being bored and hence out
of trouble?
You could also hire someone to be at your house when school is done for
the day until you get home.
Remember to factor in snow days, random school breaks, summer breaks,
stuff like that in your planning.
Me, I'd start out by exploring SACC and daycares and then where Gab can
volunteer.
Finally, does working outside the home make sense for you? Just because
"other mothers work" doesn't mean it's right for you, or for your
family.
Make sure you do what is appropriate for your family and factor that in.
I liken it to when I decided to retire my guide dog, shortly after my
daughter was born. I know full well that "plenty of blind moms work and
have guide dogs" but that wasn't relivant to the needs of my family. So,
make sure that going back to work is something you need and or want to
do. Just because other people do it doesn't mean squat on an individual
level.

Since gab was born, I have been a stay at home mom. But this time is
grinding to a hault. I am busy looking for a job. Everyone keeps
asking
me, "what are you going to do with Gab?" I keep answering, "don't know,
but
other parents work." So what I want to know, where do you leave your
children, programs? I know they are out there, just not sure? Maybe
YMCa
or something like that. v
