A few years ago we went to a costume party. I threw an old white sheet over
my head. I cut out a hole where the mouth went, then tied a rope around my
neck and put on an old cowboy hat. I looked like I had just got off the
hanging stand. The funny thing about this costume was that I had my cane
under the sheet and no one could see it. Because there were no cut outs for
eyes, several people walked up to me and asked if I could see out. Welll,
you know I answered, "no." that really freaked them out. When it got time
to eat, I just helped myself through the mouth hole. Anyway, I wond first
place for the outfit. I guess it did look earie, me walking around and not
bumping into anything. V

I'd never thought about doing costumes at church before, but we have a small
congregation, and a couple of the girls asked if they could wear theirs. So
then the Sunday school teacher, my friend Cathy, decided she would go as a
Southern belle because she has an old wedding dress she's planning to dye
purple. She wants me to figure out something, too.
The best costume I ever had was the cat suit my mom made me when I was maybe
around ten years old. It was a black body suit, even with feet and mittens
and a hood with ears. I had a tail and even a bow around my neck with bells
on it. I don't think I'll ever manage anything like that for Sarah, but I'm
thinking she'll like dressing up anyway. She's old enough to go to a few
doors with Gerald and get candy, though I'll be pretty selective about what
she gets to eat.
