Some of the settings that control monitors are dependent upon the graphics card and not necessarily on Windows versions.  If your friend does not find a 
rotate button, try ALT-CONTROL-UP-ARROW.  With some graphics cards, the ALT-CONTROL arrow combinations turn the display, and this is most likely 
how it got flipped.  ALT0-CONTROL-DOWN-ARROW would, for example, flip the text over completely.  These keys can be disabled in the CONTROL 
Panel, usually under the entry for the Intel Graphics adapter, but exactly where and how can vary.
