Dear Tara,
Welcome to the list. I wanted to mention to you, as I do with any new
member, that I teach a Parenting series at the Hadley School for the Blind.
Blind or visually impaired parents have taken Preparation to get an idea of
what to expect during pregnancy and shortly beyond. Infancy covers the first
year and Early Years covers ages 1 to 5. The courses are free and available
in Braille, large print or recorded format. Many students email their
lessons. One can, of course, read this kind of information elsewhere, but
our courses are designed for interaction with the student and instructor. I
am totally blind and have two adult sighted sons. I never say I am an
expert, but this is at least a way to talk with a blind parent whose kids
survived! :)
You are welcome to contact me off list at
shrnhow at att.net
or through Hadley at
howerton at hadley.edu
If you have been a student before, you can just contact Student Services at
800-323-4238 to enroll. Information can be found on our web site
hadley.edu
under adult continuing education courses.
Best of luck!
Sharon
