[blparent] Getting baby latched on without help

The la leche league wasn't that way here at all, infact, they suggested I pump and feed the baby that way. The woman I spoke to told me that not all women can breast feed and sometimes it is just as good if they get the breast milk from a bottle. I learned more from them than anyone else.
But, I never did use the bottle as Gab just got the hang of it after everyone quit trying to help.
My mother couldn't breast feed, as her nipples were inverted.

Hi,

Be careful of taking too much advice from Le Leche league. They’re great if you are exclusively breast feeding, but I found that they were very close-minded and judgmental when I told them I had introduced a bottle of breastmilk to my son. I went to them because I was having a little trouble feeding Remus from my left breast, so I had started to pump that breast and fed it to him after breastfeeding from both sides. The woman I spoke to informed me that I was causing my problems and that I should stop using the bottle immediately, because the baby was having nipple confusion issues. I did this, and when I took him to the doctor a week later he had lost a bunch of weight. My doctor told me that if I couldn’t breast feed, I should pump and feed him, and that he’d had similar experiences with new mothers and the Le Leche league. I hope this isn’t the case with all mothers, and that other mothers on the list have had more success with them, but that was my experience with them.

La Leche league is a great place to contact. I never could use one of those
pillows for nursing. I always felt that my baby was too low. V

do you have a nursing pillow? if so, you might try laying him on it across
your lap. breastfeeding is not easy. I ended up pumping exclusively for 22
weeks because we were both so frustrated. I would really encourage you to
find a good and open minded lactation consultant. I wish I had done this, as

I think it would have made all the difference for us.
