[blparent] changing toddlers diaper

Thanks everybody, keep it coming. I'm too tall for the desk idea but maybe
the dresser idea if I can find a good one that is nice and long. Have you
guys come across or heard of any thick changing pads that are extra-long for
toddlers?

Thanks,

Erin

For child number 3 I used their dresser with a contoured changing pad. It's

a long dresser, about 5 ft in length, so it worked when she was a toddler
too. I use the stand up method in public places most of the time. I use
the diaper to take as much off the child as possible when I'm removing it so

it's less for me to wipe (hopefully) with the wipes. If they're super
messy, just make sure you get all clothing out of the way in case the mess
travels. Also do your best to keep their hands up. I told my kids to keep
their hands clasped together in front of them (when they were old enough to
comply) so they wouldn't get their hands in anything. My third child always

wanted to "help" which wasn't helpful at all, so I had to strongly enforce
the rule with her as she got older. Thank goodness she was potty trained
much earlier than my other 2. :)

The floor so didn't work for me. It hurt my back like hell. Also, it just
gave my kid more room to move about on.
What did work was a desk. Put it up against the wall, ideally in acorner so
that there is only one way off that desk, and that way is towards you.
The desk is bigger then the changing table, and it can withstand more
weight. Our changing table was only specced for 30 pounds. I discovered
this when it collapsed with my kid on it. She wasn't hurt, but she did want
the table out of the house which I was happy to accomidate.

Also, the desk is shorter then the changing table and was physically much
easier for me to use. I only wish I'd used the desk option far sooner.

I took the changing cushion and put it on the floor. It was easier for me
that way and I didn't have to worry about Gab falling! V

Hello list,

Dawson is a big boy now at 22lbs and so long that he's almost out-grown his
changing table. I wanted to see how those of you with toddlers prefer to
change your munchkins to make diapering time safe, fun and comfortable for
everyone. If you don't have toddlers yourself but know of someone with a
toddler who has a creative successful way of changing their toddler then
please let me know as well. I've heard that the floor method is often times
a challenge since it's a struggle to keep the toddler from rolling and
wanting to crawl away. I've looked at some child care center grade changing
tables for toddlers but these are definitely not in my price range since
they want $250 and above. Also, I'd love to hear some tips for changing
toddlers in public since we're right around the corner for that. Dawson
loves to lay on something soft for being changed so if you all know of any
large changing pads for toddlers that are nice and squishy then please let
me know.

Thanks so much and hope you're all having a great weekend.

Erin
