When my children were in school, I would, many times, have friends (the
parents) in the class. I would call that person on a regular basis just
because we were friends, and they could then fill me in. If it is a
personal note, that is a different matter. Also, if you become well
acquainted with the teacher, say ask to come in and read Braille books to
the class each week, then you may be able to call the teacher occasionally
if there is something that you need to talk about. Honestly, though, I
cannot imagine why emailing wouldn't be a natural option. I have found that
in the past few years, nearly every teacher emails regularly. I agree with
the others, you should expect to make sure you can acquire everything the
other parents receive. Best of luck and don't settle for less. Have as many
discussions as it takes to get what you should be receiving. Also, sometimes
we worry about things and then when we get to the real event, things work
themselves out nicely. Every year that your kids are in school, you will
learn something new to help make that year better than the last.

It is very easy to scan them, as long as they are typed, but if they are
hand written it is just easier to have someone read thenm to you. Another
thing I did, was have a parent of a child who was also in the class read
them to me once in awhile.

I'd either ask for a digital copy or a weekly report in person.

        Hi everyone.
Yes, I am back.
Looking for insight, wisdom, experience.

I have a little boy going into the first grade on Wednesday, but Monday is a
"meet and greet the teacher."
Now, When his Kindergarten teacher would send papers home, I could not read
them.
I had an idea that would help. The teacher could email them to me.
I live with my parents and I told my idea to my dad and he said that might
be too much work for a teacher to do for someone who has the kind of need
that I have.
I mean, I'm looking for independence. I don't want my dad to have to read
the papers that come home.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
I want to be able to ask the teacher when I meet her on Monday.
Thanks for all your help and God bless you.
Nikki
