[blparent] questions about baby products

I can answer the last question...

So not to look like a semi-truck while walking, find a solution and stick to
the plan. There are so many products and choices out there and one can go
literally crazy from it. Usually, my wife and I find something that other
parents use and go for it ourselves.

I could write a list of needs and wants for you but our circumstances are
different and therefore, our solutions will never be the same. Traveling
boils down to basically two options: 1. carriers and 2. strollers.

By the option that works best for you first. Invest the most time
researching and the most money you can on the best options above. If you
will be using a stroller most often then investing in the best one for you
is the way to go. It should be able to fit everything you need inside it and
not be too bulky to manage.

My wife would over prepare at times and drag out the stroller, the
front-loader- diaper bag- and a hot cup of coffee all at once. If she were
blind, she'd need an extra arm for the cane or dog. Now she uses the
stroller and that's it. Everything fits nicely and it's a breeze to break
down. It's easy for her to shop or simply go for walks anytime and that
stroller now has a holder for her coffee. That's planning perfectly.

I like the carrier. I put everything I need inside and go for it. Sun block,
changing pad, diapers, extra water and bottles, snacks, wipes, and extra
clothes all go in the pack. When I need anything, I simply stop, find a seat
and fulfill my parenting duties.

After you choose the best option for you, I'd buy a lesser expensive
secondary option. So if you buy an expensive carrier, maybe don't pay as
much on the stroller but get one anyway. Sometimes the pack won't work
because of a physical limitation and sometimes the stroller won't work
because the terrain is too cumbersome. Both is best.

I plan my route before I leave, choose the right option, and go for it.

Preparation and planning can get you out of the worst situation at times.
That's it! Good luck.

Thanks,

Subject: [blparent] questions about baby products

hi All, I am trying to put all of my baby product questions into one
email as to not clog up the list.
Please write me off list: jan.wrightfamily5 at gmail.com so that this
does not get monotonous.
i am registering at "diapers.com" for a baby registry. i don't get to
go out and shop much and kind of feel overwhelmed when i do. So, this
is a nice way to view products. The only drawback is that i don't get
to physically 'see' the product and so need other people's vivid
descriptions and reviews. i don't like to buy things that I don't need
and am a minimalist when it comes to baby furniture and accessories.
But, I do want to get the necessities and i want them to really *work.
diapers.com is not very descriptive, i must say.
1. there are three breastfeeding storage bags on the site. Medela,
Ameda and Simplisse. I am not even sure which breastpump i am going to
get yet: (shower gift) but, will any of the bottles & storage bags
work with any breastpump? What is "BPA?"
2. what is a "mini co-sleeper?" It sounds like a sheet set or a bed
matress, but I am not sure because "co sleeper" indicates that the
baby is "co sleeping."
  3. Has anyone used cloth diapers? I am looking for ease, so the ones
that I need to fold are kind of 'out' but i am wondering which you
like the best and which are the easiest to use? i do kno that every
baby is different and the fit might be challenging for some babies.
4. We all know what it is like to have to deal with a cane or dog,
diaper bag, carseat, etc. Any recommendations on the best way to
minimalize the excessories so you don't feel like a semi truck when
you walk?

thanks.
Jan
