[blparent] writing

Maybe a nice but small reward if he sits and practices writing for 10
minutes. Lucas 6 loves the wii so if we want him to do something, we tell
him that after he finishes the task, he can play the wii. He also is happy
with small treats like candy or a healthyier choice go-gurt.

Subject: Re: [blparent] writing

I'm sorry, but maybe I should explain in a bit more detail because the
problem is with the idea of having to have to write.
My son is going into 1st grade and he struggles with doing the task.
He complains saying, "I just wrote yesterday."
He whines and whimpers.
What he's not understanding is that he needs to practice.
When I get him seated at the table ready to write, he distracts himself.
I ask him to tell me what he's written so far and he says, "I'm just
starting."
This is after 10minutes of complaining.

He really needs to practice.
We've got him writing his ABC's and 1 2 3's n lined paper.
So I've observed that he writes sloppy and big.
But the sloppiness can be fixed because he knows how to write nicely.
But man, just getting him to sit and practice writing is a task and I just
need suggestions.
Hoping to get some help.
I've asked his friend's mom if she had any suggestions that would make
writing fun and she said, a dry erase board."
Now I'm thinking that leads to more distraction. He'll want to draw instead.
Thanks again.
Nikki

Nikki, all of gab's teachers suggested that each student should find a topic

they are interested in and write about that subject. Once they figure out
what that is, then they can incorporate it into anything. V

            Hi all.
I have a hard time getting my son to want to or like to write.
He complains and doesn't focus, which leads me to aggrivation and
frustration.
If you have any helpful tips to make it fun and not seem like a "do or die"
task, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Nikki
