I think the book was called The Bone-Setter's Daughter. 
Even if I'm wrong, Amy Tan is always a good read.  Makes you think about relationships and how they evolve over time.

Hi i find this an interesting post. My sister was here yesterday and this is about a teen but she did so much for her kids that this one says she hate her mom if she doesn't stop at a store or whereever just because she doesn't get her own way. Mom deserves respect and consideration also.
