I knew the first, but have never heard she was blind.  I will have to check into that.  Here in albuquerque, there is a Saint Kateri chapel.  It is very beautiful I am told and lots of people go there. v

I have read that Kateri is the only Native American woman who has been 
nominated for sainthood, and that she was blind due to smallpox.
