[blparent] baby gates question

for a while there between ages 7 and 9 I had to put sensors that would chime when the door was opened. you can buy a four pack kit for like 12 dollars at walmart, they are referred to as a window, or door alarm kit. 

my daughter would like to sneak out the room to find what doughnuts or other sweets we kept in the kitchen, we lossed that battle, we just had to start locking them up in the room closet.
